MENOPAUSE AFTER CANCER: SURVIVORSHIP MATTERS

A woman’s cancer journey does not end when treatment ends.

For many gynecologic cancer survivors, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or removal of the ovaries can bring on early or treatment-induced menopause—sometimes years earlier than expected.

A new 2026 position paper from the FIGO Committee on Women at Menopausal Age highlights an important message: “Gynecologic cancer survivors deserve comprehensive menopause and survivorship care”.

At The Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc., we believe cancer care should extend from prevention and early diagnosis to treatment, survivorship and quality of life.

A cancer survivor should not have to navigate menopause alone. Surviving cancer is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of survivorship.
