Breast Cancer Awareness Session Ministry of Amerindian Affairs – October 21, 2025

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Shivani Samlall and Dr. Mallika Singh conducted an educational and screening session with the staff of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs on October 21, 2025.

The interactive session highlighted the importance of early detection, self-examination, and routine screening in improving breast cancer outcomes. Participants had the opportunity to receive clinical breast examinations, and were guided on whether mammograms or breast ultrasounds were recommended based on their personal risk factors and physical findings, and the importance of supportive care not only from family but from friends, colleagues and the entire community. 

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to education, empowerment, and equitable access to women’s health services across Guyana.
