Standing for Women. Saving Lives. Strengthening Communities.
Every January, the world unites to shine a light on cervical cancer—a disease that is highly preventable, treatable when caught early, and yet continues to take the lives of too many women, especially in low-resource settings.
At The Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc., we believe that every woman—regardless of where she lives, her income, or her background—deserves access to information, screening, treatment, and compassionate support. Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity for us to recommit to this mission.
Why Cervical Cancer Matters
Cervical cancer is one of the leading cancers affecting women in Guyana.
Most cases are linked to persistent HPV infection.
Primary HPV testing, regular screening, timely follow-up, and HPV vaccination can reduce deaths dramatically.
Early-stage cervical cancer is highly curable—but only if detected in time.
Our Commitment This Month
Throughout January, The Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc. will be:
🌿 Sharing educational content on HPV prevention, screening, and early symptoms
🌿 Promoting HPV vaccination as a safe and powerful cancer-prevention tool
🌿 Supporting women who need guidance after an abnormal Pap or HPV test
🌿 Collaborating with partners to expand access to screening and follow-up care
🌿 Advocating for primary HPV testing as Guyana’s national standard
