Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc. Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness at Guyana Power and Light

The Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc., in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Session at Guyana Power and Light (GPL) as part of our ongoing commitment to empower communities through education and access to care.

The session provided valuable information on early detection, screening, and prevention, followed by on-site breast examinations. Women who met clinical criteria were referred for mammograms, with funding that was provided through Guyana Cancer Institute to ensure no eligible participant was left behind due to financial barriers.

Dr. Shivani Samlall, Founder and Chairperson, emphasized the importance of such outreach:

“Awareness must be followed by action. By providing access to screening and diagnostic services, we are giving women the chance for earlier diagnosis and better outcomes.”
